In historiography, ancient Rome is Roman civilisation from the founding of the Italian city of Rome in the 8th century BC to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century AD, encompassing the Roman Kingdom, Roman Republic and Roman Empire until the fall of the western empire.

CHECKLIST of Essential elements:

  • Use the 03. Assignment Guide blueprint for research inquiries or class assignments, and the 04. Topic Guide blueprint for general information on a specific topic, suitable for a specific year group or various year levels.  
  • Use the group 'Online Learning Courses' and type 'Course Guide.' to deliver other lessons, reading programmes or online courses.
  • Ensure the correct Group, 'Primary' or 'Secondary Learners,' is selected for each guide so it will appear on the correct index when published (see 'Type and Group' under the title). 
  • Select the correct Type. (see 'Type and Group' under the title). [NOTE: Only 'General Purpose Guides', 'Assignment Guides' our 'Subject Guides', 'Topic Guides' and 'Course Guides' are viewable on the open web.]
  • Follow the naming conventions e.g. Assignment Guide: English10 Short Title or Topic Guide: HISTORY OLYMPIC GAMES (Use upper case)
  • Add a 'Friendly URL' to your guide.
  • Assign at least one school Subject to the guide and Tag keywords that may be used to search for the guide.  The guide must have a Learning Area/subject designation to appear on the index, when published.
  • The SSS style guide stipulates Arial font. Our default text size is14.
  • Please include one pictorial element on each page. Remember to add a reference to the source, right justified (e.g. SOURCE: )
  • When completed/needed, send your guide to the publishing workflow.  

Useful Elements: 

  • Add a friendly URL to any individual guide pages that users may need to access directly.  
  • If you want students to interact with the guide content, add an Discussion page and add the student email addresses as patrons. 
  • Delete any unwanted boxes (Select 'X' next to box title/ select 'Delete' button)
  • To add a Banner image to the top box: conduct an image search for a suitable topic, with a size of 1400 px (pixels) wide by no more than 250 px high.  Then take a screen image of a section using a camera app (SnapNDrag) or crop the image using 'Preview' on a MAC. Add the created image to your image library. Select the 'edit' pencil icon on the top box, select his placeholder image (to highlight it), select the image icon (above), select "Browse server" to find your new banner image and add it in the normal way. (The width of the banner image is set to "100%" by this placeholder image.)
