Nazism was a fascist political movement—and later a form of government—that developed in Germany during the 1920's.

Hitler, Adolf (1889-1945), ruled Germany as dictator from 1933 to 1945. He turned Germany into a powerful war machine and provoked World War II in 1939. Hitler's forces conquered most of Europe before they were defeated in 1945.

Kristallnacht is a German word meaning Crystal Night. In English, the event is called the Night of Broken Glass because the Nazis shattered the windows of many Jewish-owned stores.

Mein Kampf is a book by Adolf Hitler. It was published in two parts in 1925 and 1926, before Hitler became dictator of Germany, and became a "bible" for the Nazis.

On November 8–9, 1923, Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party led a coalition group in an attempt to overthrow the German government. The insurrection failed miserably.

Hermann Goring was second to Adolf Hitler as a leader of Nazi Germany. He became Reich marshal and commanded the German air force. He also directed the build-up of Germany's war industry before the outbreak of World War II in 1939.

Joseph Goebbels was the official propagandist of Nazi Germany.

On February 27, 1933, the German parliament (Reichstag) building burned down. The Nazi leadership and its coalition partners used the fire to claim that Communists were planning a violent uprising, which paved the way for Nazi dictatorship.

The Enabling Act allowed the Reich government to issue laws without the consent of Germany’s parliament, laying the foundation for the complete Nazification of German society.

The Night of Long Knives, also known as the Röhm Putsch, was the purge of the SA leadership and other political opponents from 30 June 1934 to 2 July 1934. Carried out primarily by the SS and the Gestapo, over 150 people were murdered and hundreds more were arrested.
