SCIENCE12 Physics ATAR: Electromagnetism explained

Part 1: Electric Fields, EM Fields, Motor Effect

This programme looks at how magnetism and electricity are linked. Includes specifically: electric fields; moving charges produce EM fields; fields around conductors, solenoids, Earth; atomic magnets, paramagnetism; Curie point; Motor effect, deflection of electron beam TV; interacting fields, magnetic force balance; torque on a coil, galvanometer; motors.

Part 2: Electromagnetic induction

This programme provides a more detailed investigation of how moving a magnet near a conductor produces electricity - electromagnetic induction. It looks specifically at magnets inducing electron flows; solenoids, generators and alternators; transformers; Lenz's law, induction coils, back EMF and eddy currents; generators; and motors.
